“I think we often overlook assisting those that cannot assist themselves.

“I was touched by the love and excitement the children showed when I visited them.

“After the visiting, I am challenged to do even more for them.

“It is my wish to see their daily needs met.

“I want to make a difference and play my part wherever I can because I believe that our country can achieve a lot if everybody just plays their part,” said Palesa.

Nompumelelo Sikhosana, the founder of Siyathandwa Stimulation Centre, said the centre currently has 22 disabled children between the ages of three and 18.

“Our centre is very small and limits us from doing our daily programmes.

“Palesa’s visit meant a lot to me and the children.

“Our children are not able to speak but it was easy to tell that her visit made them happy.

“The children are always cooped indoors so seeing visitors mean a lot to them.

“We cater for all types of disabilities, most of our children are from disadvantaged families and some are even orphans.

“Our challenges and needs are food, nappies, toiletries, blankets, clothes and baby cots.

“The goodies she brought the children were special to us,” said Nompumelelo.

People who want to donate to the centre can contact Nompumelelo Sikhosana on 084 858 7444 or email siyathandwadaycare@gmail.com
