Jefa held an awards ceremony at the end of last year to encourage its youngsters to keep up the good work.

“Soccer is keeping these children off the streets and away from negative influences,” said club owner Aubrey Motshwane.

“As coaches we are proud to see them grow and improving their soccer skills. The awards ceremony is the little that we can do as the league to encourage them to have hope and dream big.”

Motshwane appealed to the community to support the league.

“Most of the children playing in the league can’t even afford soccer boots, but they still play and come to practice because this is their passion.”

Jefa treasurer Alison Roberts said she is proud of what the association has achieved.

“I’m very proud to be part of Jefa, but I’m more proud to see the progress that has been made with the hard work of the coaches and the committee. We have established an environment for children to come and safely enjoy their passion and also improve their soccer skills.”

Roberts, who is also a PR (proportional representation) councillor, said it has not been easy because of the lack of funds to run the association.

“We would like to see all teams have proper gear to play in. Because of their background, some play without soccer boots, other teams don’t even have a team jersey. As an association, we want to change such things,” Roberts said.

“We would love to find sponsors. If you would like to be part of making dreams come true, please come sponsor Jefa.”
