Trust thanks community

“The best part of the year was seeing the trust’s storeroom fill with donations for those in need.”

Khanyisa Trust has thanked local community members and business owners for their support in 2017.

“Without the support of the community the year would have been difficult,” said Dipuo Tekana, manager of the trust.

“At the start of the year we really needed assistance.”

However, things became easier for the trust as the year progressed and donations began to pour in.

“The best part of the year was seeing the trust’s storeroom fill with donations for those in need,” said Dipuo.

Khanyisa assists those in need with the donations it receives from the community.

It hosts a regular soup kitchen and keeps a register for those seeking employment.

“A lot of the community members were surprised to learn that there was a soup kitchen initiative in Edenvale,” Leigh said.

Despite the community’s opening its heart, Khanyisa is in desperate need of employment opportunities for those on its register.

The trust does not offer employment itself, but helps individuals to find employment.

Dipuo said if businesses can assist with employment opportunities they will be making a huge difference in the lives of those in need.

Looking towards the new year, the trust is hoping to relaunch a sewing project to enable people to learn basic sewing skills.

Dipuo and Leigh thanked the community for their assistance in 2017 and wished everyone a blessed festive season.
