Mam’ Khanyi said she founded the home in response to the scourge of young women being lured into drug abuse and prostitution rings.

Mam’ Khanyi got involved to rescue young girls. She wants to offer them a safe place to live and education that will enable them to pursue a brighter future.

Marketing manager of ICT-Works, Wendy Botha, said the engagement initially arose after a visit to the Home of Hope by ICT-Works as part of the Mandela Day activities.

“Staff and some of the executive members visited the home to cook for the children, plant a food garden and help deliver the donations of clothing items and food provided for the young girls,” she said.

Botha said the story of what Mam’ Khanyi does was so moving that an additional donation process was set up the following month to raise more money to assist her with the amazing work she does for the young people that she cares for.

Mam’ Khanyi was then invited to share her story with ICT-works.

“The cheque was the additional money raised by ICT-Works’ employees who committed themselves to supporting Home of Hope,” said Botha.

Mam’ Khanyi currently takes care of 79 young girls.
