Car hijacking in Bedfordview increased by 94.3 per cent between the period April 2016 to March 2017 when compared to the same period the previous year.
According to national SAPS crime stats attempted murder cases in Bedfordview also increased by 13 per cent from 46 cases to 52 cases.
Other crimes which showed an increase were sexual offences including rape, common robbery, robbery with aggravating circumstances and robbery at non-residential premises.
Crimes that showed a decrease included murder which was down by 28.6 per cent and shoplifting which decreased by 31.3 per cent.
233.3 per cent more arrests were made for the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition and 40.1 per cent more drug-related arrests were made.
