As the Janine Van Wyk (JVW) Football Club reaches its final week of the Girls Schools League, teams are heading out to ensure maximum points in order to qualify for the playoffs.

The playoffs will be held on September 23 and September 24 at Bedfordview Country Club.

Lauren Duncan, the Janine van Wyk (JVW) Football Development’s project manager said it’s coming down to crunch time to see which teams have a shot at winning the 2017 title.

“With 147 teams and 73 schools, it surely has been one nail-biting season. Newcomers will show what their school is capable of and under-dogs who cause a complete uproar with the results,” said Duncan.

This week sees the knockout week only for the second placed open teams to guarantee their spot in the playoffs.

Duncan said preparation is crucial and intense but simultaneously creating a fun and competitive environment for all the girls.

“The teams who have qualified so far in their respective streams are Ashton College International u-15 and Open, Benoni High Open, Wordsworth High u-15, Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy u-15 and St Stithians Open,” she said.
