The City of Ekurhuleni launched 36 new ambulances and seven primary response vehicles worth a total of R34-million on August 26.

Spokesperson for the Ekurhuleni Disaster Management Service (DEMS), William Ntladi said this new addition will intensify quality rescue and emergency medical services requirements within the city.

Executive mayor, Clr Mzwandile Masina presented the vehicles to the hundreds of community members who attended the function held at Leon Ferreira fire station in Boksburg and the cities at large.
“After the official reception of the keys and inspection by the mayor from the service provider who fitted the fleet and making it ready for action, red lights and sirens blared throughout the station in celebration of the new fleet,” said Ntladi.
After the launch, the vehicles were handed over to the 29 station managers who then drove them away to their respective stations to start the operation with immediate effect.
