Two men were arrested in Bedfordview following a police chase from Cyrildene on Friday.
Officers from the JMPD’s undercover unit spotted the men driving around in a silver Mercedes Benz.
“Officers instructed the men to stop their vehicle but the men sped off towards Bedfordview,” said SAPS spokesperson Captain Andre de Jager.
He added that the two men lost control of their vehicle along Kloof Road.
Both men were arrested on scene.
“During a search of the vehicle officers found a rifle and ammunition,” said Captain de Jager.
The serial numbers for the rifle had been filed off.
The two men will appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon.
