Breakthrough in business robberies as stolen goods are recovered in storage units

Various goods were recovered in the units such as boxes of cigarettes, stacks of brand new tyres, rolls of upholstery materials and others linked to business robberies

Stolen goods linked to business robberies as far afield as Rustenburg were discovered in two self-storage units in Bedfordview and Petit last weekend.

Spokesperson for the Ekurhuleni West Cluster Captain André de Jager said the Ekurhuleni West Cluster conducted an intelligence driven operation during the early hours of June 11.

“Various goods were recovered in these units, such as boxes of cigarettes, stacks of brand new tyres, rolls of upholstery materials and several other items that can positively be linked to different business robberies in and around the Gauteng area and as far as Rustenburg,” said de Jager.

“The goods recovered are estimated to be worth more than R500 000 and as the investigation continues the value might be more,” he added.

De Jager said the Ekurhuleni West Cluster Task Team and Crime Intelligence officers were still investigating several leads but no arrests had yet been made.
