The World Scholars Cup tournament comes to Bishop Bavin

Bishop Baven hosted the tenth World Scholars Cup tournament at the school from Thursday, May 18 to May 19.

Bishop Bavin hosted the 10th World Scholar’s Cup tournament at the school from May 18 to May 19.

Daniel Berdichevsky, the programme’s founder, said the World Scholar’s Cup’s main goal was to motivate learners of all backgrounds to discover new strengths and practise new skills.

“We also aim to inspire a global community of future scholars and leaders,” said Berdichevsky.

“The first World Scholar’s Cup took place in Korea in 2007.

“The first global round followed a few weeks later, bringing together learners from Korea, Singapore and the United States,” Berdichevsky said.

Bishop Bavin hosted this tournament for the third year.

The tournament is made up of various categories, which include debating and writing.

Burch Wang, World Scholar’s Cup director of Social Stuff, said the tournament aims to bring together learners from around the world.

“All schools can be a part of this tournament. If you want to take part, all you have to do is visit our website at www.scholarscup.org and register. Both private and public schools can be a part of this. The tournament is inclusive, encouraging, discussion based and team oriented,” said Wang.
