Local swimmer does well at national champs

Overall the championships were a success for Kyle.

The South African National Youth Championships were held in conjunction with the SA Open National Aquatic Championships.

The championships were held at the Kings Park pool in Durban.

Kyle Mckenzie and Savannah Mitchell from ESP and the Aquatic Academy, located in Edenvale, both qualified for the event.

The pair swam under the Eastern Gauteng Aquatics banner.

At the event, the six members of the team were each awarded with track tops, towels and a different shirt each day.

Overall, the championships were a success for Kyle.

He won two bronze medals for the individual medley and the 200 metre breaststroke events.

Along with the medals Kyle, achieved new personal best times for the medley, the 200m breaststroke and the 200m freestyle event.

He also met one of his icons Penny Heyns, a past world record holder and Olympian.
