Rotary fundraiser to be held

In celebration of Rotary’s centenary year the Edenvale Rotary Club will host a dinner and auction evening.
The organisation’s fundraising event will be held on May 27.
Financial assistance from the Rotary Foundation (TRF) allows Rotary clubs around the world to conduct service projects.
Ms Linda Clarke, secretary of Edenvale Rotary, said last year TRF distributed over $25.5 million (R 353 268 922.02) to various clubs around the world.
Last year a total of $350 000 (R 4 848 789.13) was distributed to the four Rotary regions in South Africa.
“Rotary clubs and districts use these grants to address local needs or combine the grants for international projects,” said Clarke.
She said the demand for funding from the clubs and districts increases by 10 per cent each year.
