Edenvale runners take top positions

Edenvale residents Cobie Smith and Rachael Leijdekkers finished in first and second place in the 21,1km Birchwood Cross the Line Half Marathon.

The marathon was held at the Birchwood Hotel and OR Tambo Conference Centre in Boksburg.

Since its inception 2011, the race has grown year-on-year.

This year the race accommodated 4 000 participants in the various categories.

The results were as follows:

•  The 21.1km women’s race was won by Cobie Smith from the Team Vitality AC Club.
•  The 21.1km men’s race was won by Lebogang Clifford Nkofu from the Ramaphosa AC Club.
•  The women’s 10km race was won by Cheryl-lynn Ceroniefrom from the Kempton Road Runners Club.
•  The men’s 10km race was won by Donald Mashamaite from the Bedfordview Country Club.
