Headgirl of 2016 Thirasha Waidyaratne was the top achiever at Jeppe High School for Girls. She achieved 10 distinctions. Thirasha, a former MW De Wet Primary School learner, plans to study a BSc in mechanical engineering at the University of Cape Town. She would like to specialise in aeronautical engineering.
For the 23rd consecutive year, Jeppe High School for Girls matriculants achieved a 100 percent pass rate.
A total of 137 distinctions were obtained for the class of 2016.
99 percent of the class of 2016 achieved marks which will allow them to progress to tertiary education, while 94 percent of the students achieved admission for bachelors degrees.
“Many of the girls did very well and we are proud of the results which the 175 matriculants achieved this year. We wish them every success in their future endeavours,” said Miss Dina Gonçalves, the headmistress of the school.
Zuhaira Ali obtained five distinctions.
Sumaiya Shaik was awarded four distinctions.
Shezaan Shaikjee obtained four distinctions.
Tasmiyah Laher obtained eight distinctions. The former Dunvegan Primary School learner aims to study medicine at the University of Witwatersrand.
Naseeha Laher was awarded six distinctions.
Prianka Kara was awarded five distinctions.
Tehillah Snyman was awarded five distinctions.
Erin van Wyk was awarded five distinctions.
Woniso Mazonde achieved five distinctions.
Firdous Hamid achieved eight distinctions. The former Linksfield Primary School learner plans to study medicine at the University of Witwatersrand.
