Runners gear up for Dis-Chem Marathon

Temporary road closures will be implemented on affected routes.

It’s less than a month to go before the 16th instalment of the Dis-Chem Half Marathon.

Come Sunday, January 15, runners will take to the streets of Bedfordview for the half marathon which kicks off on Riley Road.

The marathon, hosted by the Bedfordview Country Club – Athletics, will herald the start of the New Year’s running calendar.

The route will see the runners moving through the scenic suburb.

Temporary road closures will be implemented on affected routes.

The 21km half marathon is scheduled to start at 6am while the 5km Dash run starts at 6.30am.

The Dis-Chem Foundation has pledged to measure voluntary additional donations from participants to the event charities over and above their entry free for the event.

Lambano Santuary is one of the charities benefiting from the event.

Runners have been encouraged to arrive on time and ensure they have information on available parking on the day.
