How to make the most of your energy

Dr Rosen said everything revolves around energy and is based on the natural principles of healthy living.

Craniosacral Therapist and Therapeutic Reflexologist Arthur John Rosen was a guest speaker at the Edenvale Rotary Club (ERC) on October 31.
Rosen said everything revolves around energy and is based on the natural principles of healthy living.
“It applies to our physical and mental health. Anxiety takes up a huge amount of energy. It affects our productivity both in mind and body. Anything that does not help you achieve your purpose is wasting your energy,” said Rosen.
He said examples of energy wasters include tension, social media, no planning, procrastination, television, stress, conflict and e-mails.
“Emotions affect our body; grief is expressed in lung function, anxiety in the stomach, hate affects the heart, fear affects the kidneys and anger affects the liver,” he said.
Rosen shared the four essentials of energy plus one:
* Nutrition – food is energy producing. Sugar is toxic.
“We are poisoning ourselves with sugar. Processed foods contain sugar which we cannot measure. The most-asked question I hear is how to lose weight? I always say diets don’t work, Most people regain everything they lost and some more within three years and are often looking for a quick fix. It is more about balance and moderation,” said  Rosen.
* Breathing – most of us have forgotten how to breathe. It is an essential component if we want to build energy. Breathing brings more oxygen in and creates more energy. Deep belly breathing is a stress reliever. Oxygen combines with the nutrients of food to give us energy.
* Exercise – the body needs flow. Blood flow and oxygen flow.
* Sleep.
* Reflexology – treats the body and the emotions.
