“The congress is open to anyone who is interested in photography, whether they have a camera or not."

The Edenvale Photographic Club will be hosting the 2016 Combined East Rand Photographic Societies (CERPS) Photographic Congress and Inter Club Competition.

The event will take place on October 15 at the Edenvale Community Centre.

“The congress is open to anyone who is interested in photography, whether they have a camera or not,” said Mr Dave Gordon, the vice-chairperson of the EPC.

In the competition a variety of subjects will be covered and talks by the top photographers will be given.

A keynote speaker, Koot Marais, will be speaking at the event.

Mr Marais has won the Photographic Society of South Africa Impala Award for three consecutive years.

Other speakers will include Mr Johan Botha, Mr Robb Aspelling, Mr Shem Compion and Mr Neil Viljoen.

Aside from the professional presentations, there will also be three studio set-ups with lights, backdrops and live models where photographers can focus their skills.

PSSA bronze awards will be handed out to the winning clubs in both the senior and junior categories.
