'The victim said four suspects ordered him to stop the car while brandishing an AK47 rifle.'

Bedfordview SAPS has confirmed it is investigating a case of armed robbery and attempted murder following a shootout this afternoon.

According to spokesperson Captain Andre de Jager, the victim, a Chinese national, was cornered on the Van Buuren Road off ramp of the N3 North.

“The victim said four suspects ordered him to stop the car while brandishing an AK47 rifle. When he didn’t stop, the suspects shot at him twice,” said Capt De Jager.

He said the suspects took off with R20 000 and the victim’s wallet.

“The victim, who was shot in the upper and lower body was taken to the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Hospital in a stable condition,” said Capt De Jager.
