Burtone ready to lead ward 92

" Being a member of student parliament taught me to have great listening skills, be a solution finder, hard worker, honest, the ability to teach and learn from others and inspire others to believe in themselves."

Ms Tiziana Burtone was recently elected to be the ward councillor for ward 92.

Clr Burtone who went to Edenglen High School began her political career in 2008 while she was studying internal auditing at the University of Pretoria.

Clr Burtone said while at the University of Pretoria she was a member of the student parliament.

Because of her involvement in politics when she was younger, Clr Burtone believes she will be able to serve the community well.

“Being a member of student parliament taught me to have great listening skills, be a solution finder, hard worker, honest, the ability to teach and learn from others and inspire others to believe in themselves,” said Clr Burtone.

Some of the issues that Clr Burtone said are affecting ward 92 are the continuous power failures, water and sewerage infrastructure, irregular refuse removal, streetlights, illegal dumping and the need for more storm-water infrastructure.

Clr Burtone said housing is also a pressing issue.

“Many families migrate to my ward in search of jobs to start a new life,” said Clr Burtone.

While councillor for ward 92 Clr Burtone hopes to see that primary and supporting electricity, water and sanitation infrastructure is upgraded to reduce the impact on residents in Ward 92.

“Access to service delivery will be a key priority,” said Clr Burtone.

Clr Burtone said both Mmusi Maimane and Thuli Madonsela were role models for her.

Clr Burtone said ward 92 includes Highway Gardens, Harmelia, Klopperpark, Elandsfontein, Meadowdale, Rustivia, Gerdview, Homestead, half of Sunnyridge, Buurendal, Primrose East and Marlands.

If residents need to contact Clr Burtone they can do so by phoning her on 082 864 9562 or send an email to tburtone@gmail.com

” I would advise the residents that it is always better to report every issue to 0860 543 000 and send me the reference number, address and type of issue that needs to be addressed,” said Clr Burtone.
