Newcomers set new course records at parkrun

The weekly parkrun was host to participants from 31 various athletic clubs and saw 805 participants take part in the event.

At the Gillooly’s Parkrun held at Gillooly’s Farm on August 20 two first-time participants set new course records for the men and women.

The August 20 parkrun was host to participants from 31 various athletic clubs and saw 805 runners take part in the event.

170 of the runners were first time Gillooly’s Parkrun participants while 201 runners recorded new personal bests.

The results for the men participants were as follows:

  •  Anrich Zimmermann of Kempton Road Runners, who participated in the event for the first time, finished with a time of 17:04, setting a new Gillooly’s Male Course Record.
  •  Andy Irvine from the Edenvale Rand Road Warriors came second with a time of 18:59.
  •  Daniel Parsons placed third with a final time of 19:17.

Placings results for the women participants were as follows:

  •  Mariella Dierks from Carbineers Athletic Club was the first woman ,10th participant overall, over the line with a time of 21:02. The first-time participant set a new Gillooly’s Female Course Record.
  •  Vanessa Bowman from the Kempton Road Runners was the second woman to complete the parkrun, 23rd overall. She crossed the finish line in 22:07 minutes.
  •  Aletta Elliott of Team Vitality was the third woman, 39th overall, over the line in 24:05.

The following runners recorded the best age grade scores:

  •  Anrich Zimmermann was graded 78.13 percent for the time of 17:04.
  •  Andy Irvine was graded 75.86 percent for the time of 18:59.
  •  Vanessa Bowman was graded 72.49 percent for the time 22:07.

The current leader in the men’s annual points competition is Bradley Oakley-Brown with 1 034 points, while Heidi Williams-Sutton from the Greenstone Hill Running Club is the leader in the women’s annual points competition with 1 759 points.
