Juniors perform well in Denmark

"With 72 teams competing in this age group, it was an awesome experience to get a feel for the standard of football around the world."

The Janine Van Wyk (JVW) Football Club’s junior team recently travelled to Hjorring, Denmark, to participate in the Annual Dana Cup.

About 1105 teams from around the world competed across the boys and girls divisions.

The junior team participated in the girls U/15 section and managed to hold their own.

Travelling with a young team consisting of 12 and 15 year olds, JW FC juniors managed to showcase what South African football is all about and walked away with three wins out of five games. They were knocked out just before the round of 16.

“With 72 teams competing in this age group, it was an awesome experience to get a feel for the standard of football around the world. The junior team is now back on South African soil, competing in the Local ELFA boys league where they are sitting in the top half of the league table,” said Lauren Duncan, JVW’s project manager.
