Deputy minister of trade and industry and the ANC Ekurhuleni mayoral candidate Mzwandile Masina attended a meeting with law practitioners at the Bedfordview offices of Jurgens Bekker Attorneys on July 19.

Minister of Justice Michael Masutha attended the meeting with the mayoral candidate and staff members from the attorney’s offices.

“We are happy to be here and engage on all fronts with all sectors of society to explain and work together to increasing cohesion and reduce misunderstandings” said Minister Masutha.

ANC councillor Neil Diamond said at the meeting that the event was to act as an introduction of the mayoral candidate to the legal fraternity in the area.

When asked what the mayoral candidate will do for Ekurhuleni, specifically the Edenvale, Bedfordview and Tembisa areas, the candidate responded that the ANC has various approaches for urbanised and poorer areas.

“The main emphasis will be on sustainable development and to attract emphasis,” said the mayoral candidate.

At the age of 16, the deputy minister joined the ANC Youth League and later rose to the position of the Gauteng provincial leadership of the ANCYL.

Throughout his political career the mayoral candidate has been heavily involved in youth development.

Deputy Minister Masina studied at the University of the Witwatersrand in the school for Public and Development Management and also has his masters degree in entrepreneurship from the University of Pretoria.
