Sinkhole to be fixed

Ward 32 councillor, Clr Bongani Nkomo, said the sinkhole on Black Rock Road is one of the many issues he has been fighting to get resolved in Greenstone.

Ward 32 councillor, Clr Bongani Nkomo, said the sinkhole on Black Rock Road is one of the many issues he has been fighting to get resolved in Greenstone.

“The Greenstone area has many issues that need to be resolved, such as street lights that do not work and street lines,” said Clr Nkomo.

He said the sinkhole was reported to the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) in May but was yet to be attended to.

“My concern is that the sinkhole has the potential to cause a serious accident.

However the JRA’s marketing and communications operations manager, Ms Bertha Scheepers, said they only became aware of the sinkhole through the media query sent by the NEWS.

“We thank you for bringing the matter to our attention,” said Ms Scheepers.

She said the sinkhole was scheduled to be repaired before the end of last week

“The JRA encourages residents to report issues concerning road and storm water to 0860 562 874, hotline@jra.org.za, twitter @MyJra or via our award-winning JRA Find&Fix mobile app, so that we may be of service,” said Ms Scheepers.
