The teams that have qualified for the championships go to the process of participating in the provincial club championship league of which there are only five around the country.

The top two championship teams of each province qualify to play in the Terrence De Bruyn Cup of which only six teams qualify for the super series.

The clubs form franchise teams represented by top players within the country including the purchasing of foreign players.

The teams that participated in the league are Eastern Cape Suns and Pretoria Bladerunners, Ricoh Pumas, the Anglo Gold Ashanti Lions, the KwaZulu-Natal Marlins and the Diesel Electric Services Eagles. The league runs from March until September annually.

These top six teams compete in the super series.

“We are proud to say that we are the only televised wheelchair basketball league in the world. We run the Vodacom Youth Games for national 23 and women competitions and the Vodacom top four challenge for national men,” said the CEO of Wheelchair Basketball South Africa, Charles Saunders.
