Green Valley runners get ready for Comrades

The club has been running for three years and was established in 2011.

The Greenstone Hill running club had its captain’s run on May 21 at Gillooly’s Farm.

“The captain’s run was the last run before the Comrades Marathon.”

“We invite families of the runners to come support the Comrades runners, have breakfast together and drinks after the run and wish them luck for the Comrades,” said club founder, Mr Nicholas Campbell.

The club has been running for three years and was established in 2011.

“We started as friends running the Comrades as individuals and then decided to form a club as we realised the Greenstone area did not have a club. From there the club grew to 100 members and this is our third captain’s run,” said Mr Campbell.

The club had 23 members running the Comrades this year.

Campbell said the club has been a healthy benefit for families because it encourages family fun and living a healthy life.

The Comrades Marathon took place on May 29.
