Library hosts Joanne Macgregor

The book is the third in an eco-warriors series following 'Turtle Walk' and 'Rock Steady'.

South African author, Ms Joanne Macgregor, launched her new book, ‘Fault Lines’, at the Modderfontein Library on April 21.

The book is the third in an eco-warriors series following ‘Turtle Walk’ and ‘Rock Steady’.

Her characters, Samantha and her friends, are now in grade 10 at boarding school but cracks are beginning to appear in their friendships, romances and belief in themselves. Samantha joins ecological activists to block fracking in the Karoo and expects her friends will be alongside her.

But this does not happen and she faces many pressures while uncovering a mystery from the past and struggling to save the Karoo, as well as her friendships from splitting down their fault lines.

Ms Dale Cherrington said as Friends of Modderfontein Library, they were honoured to have Ms Macgregor visit the library for a second time.

“She has presented at Modderfontein Coffee Mornings in the past, much to the enjoyment of all present at the time. The last time we hosted her, it was in 2014 and we are honoured to have her as a guest once more,” she said.

Ms Cherrington said people who want to join the Friends of the Library can visit their Facebook page.

“We have monthly coffee mornings and we welcome people who want to join us. We always appreciate any help that we get,” said Ms Cherrington.
