Artist and art teacher, Ms Elaine Marx, finds inspiration in people and places, in South Africa and abroad.

“A beautiful place can easily create the urge to put my impression of it on a canvas,” said Ms Marx

Rembrandt and Claude Monet are her main influences.

In 2008 and 2009, she won a national and regional art competition respectively.

In 2014, she received the Vocational Award from the Rotary Group of Benoni Aurora.

Her preferred mediums are oils, and her technique has been developed over the last 30 years by visiting a number of art schools after completing her four-year teaching studies.

Ms Marx will be demonstrating a painting of a seascape in oils, particularly how to paint a wave, during the upcoming Paint & Palette Group event to be hosted at the corner of Van Riebeeck Avenue and 2nd Street at 2pm.
