Brunch held to thank Angels

On March 18, Thembalami held a brunch to thank all the Angels for their involvement at the care centre.

The Inyoni Angels have been shining their light on the residents at the Thembalami Care Centre for seven years.

On March 18, Thembalami held a brunch to thank all the Angels for their involvement at the care centre.

Scores of residents from the Inyoni Creek retirement village go out of their way to reach out to the residents of sister complex Thembalami.

Situated just a few kilometres apart, both are owned by the Rand Aid Association, but while the residents of Inyoni Creek are comfortable, many of Thembalami’s residents depend on state grants.

“We want to express our gratitude and appreciation, not only to the residents of Inyoni Creek who are regularly involved, but also to those who work behind the scenes, many of whom we have never even met,” said Ms Elize Raath, the head of Thembalami.

In 2009, the Angels hosted the first birthday bash at Thembalami, which has been held monthly ever since, with residents celebrating their birthdays in that particular month being given a gift package and everyone enjoying tea and cake.

Other activities include yearly Easter celebrations, regular family days, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day celebrations and an annual Christmas party.

The Inyoni Angels were presented with a specially-made collage capturing seven years of memories.
