Last Man Stands takes to the pitch

Overall the Ooblidoobli Hackers wins division as well as received awards for the best batsman (Dylan Oainino), best bowler (Jayson Longuiera) and best keeper (Darryl Peacock).

The Last Man Stands (LMS) cricket tournament was held at the Modderfontein sports grounds on March 6.

The tournament finals had multiple divisions competing, catering for a variety of skills and players.

The first divisions game between the Ooblidoobli Hackers and Old School 2 saw Grant Laros (squareleg and scoring) and Boipelo Maduna (caller) as umpires.

The match started with Old School 2 batting first. Ooblidoobli Hackers won as Old School 2 scored 93 for 5 after 20.0 overs while the Ooblidoobli Hackers scored 97 for 1 after 14.2 overs, winning by 7 wickets.

Overall the Ooblidoobli Hackers won in their division and received awards for the best batsman (Dylan Oainino), best bowler (Jayson Longuiera) and best keeper (Darryl Peacock).

Other games played on the day included the finals of divisions two (between Boertjies and Babals Bowlers), three (between Afternoon Delight and Cambodian Turtles) and four (between JDM and Ring Stingers 4).

In division two the Boertjies won with 137 for 7 after 20 and Babals Bowlers were 116 for 5 after 20.

In Division three Afternoon Delight won with 137 for 6 after 20 and Cambodian scored 107 for 8 after 20.

In Division four JDM won with 155 for 5 after 20 and Ring Stingers 4 scored 135 for 4 after 20.

Mr Grant Smith, a cricket player for the Cambodian Turtles, said that the pitch was very slow.

LMS Bedfordview incorporates Bedfordview, Edenvale and Modderfontein.

According to Mr Claude Oosthuizen at Bedfordview, there are currently 50 teams for the 2016 Q2 season.
