Resident raises water leakage concerns

I hope these leaks will get repaired and that our precious resource will be somewhat saved.

EDITOR – As we are experiencing water shortages the country over, albeit with some rainfall of late, this should not lead to ignorance and neglecting our vital sources and supply network around our country.

Last week I had to visit a shop in the block where the off-ramp is from the highway to Van Riebeeck Avenue in Edenvale.

There is a persistent water leak which runs down to the drain in the parking lot in front of Nemtek. I also noticed, at the exit of the premises, there was a water leak as well where the road exits out to the traffic light at the corner in front of Kia Motors.

It seems to be a normal case in South Africa, nothing will be done until a big sinkhole forms or someone is seriously injured. I hope these leaks will get repaired and that our precious resource will be somewhat saved.

Editor’s Comment – The NEWS requested comment from the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality by February 19 at 10am. The metro responded on February 17 with a request for a reference number for follow-up purposes. The NEWS sent the request to Mr Pittner, however he said he tried to contact the council but does not have a reference number and as a result contacted the NEWS.
