Search continues for Pick n Pay robbers

The incident occurred just after 7pm.

The SAPS continues to search for a group of men who robbed the Pick n Pay at the shopping centre along Terrace Road, Edenvale, on February 19.

The store was hit by robbers on Friday night just before closing time.

The Edenvale SAPS acting communications officer, Warrant Officer Jean Olckers, said the incident happened just after 7pm.

He said the incident is being investigated by the Tembisa SAPS Cluster.

W/O Olckers said he could not disclose the number of suspects involved in the robbery.

“I can confirm that the incident took place on Friday, however I cannot disclose the number of suspects involved as that could jeopardise the investigations,” he said.

The Edenvale Community Police Forum (ECPF) chairperson, Mrs Linda McKenzie, said some shoppers tried to exit the store but were pushed back inside by the suspects.

“My deputy, Mr Prince Mathebula, drove some of the staff members to their respective homes in Tembisa after the incident. Some staff members were traumatised. Customers’ belongings taken in the incident included cellular phones and wallets,” said Mrs McKenzie.
