Resident upset over lack of response to streetlight complaints

'As a regular rate-payer I am bitterly disappointed.'

EDITOR – The streetlight outside my house in Seventh Avenue has not been working for a few weeks.

As a result, the street is very dark and thus poses a security risk. I sent an email to the Edenvale Town Council on December 9, 2015 on edenvale.cca@ekurhuleni.gov.za.

I brought to their attention my situation and concerns.

I also requested that it kindly be treated as urgent.

By December 18, I sent a follow up email in which I stated nothing had been done since the first complaint was lodged.

I did receive a reference number. However, by January 20 it had been six weeks since my original email was sent and still I had not receive a response. As a regular rate-payer I am bitterly disappointed and need something to be done about the streetlamp.

On February 2, after numerous emails, I still have not received a response. Please advise if I have made use of the correct email address or if there are more effective means to get some action done. On February 4, I again requested for the streetlight to be attended to.

I have lived in Edenvale for 37 years and not even a one-word reply to my numerous e-mails – which is unfair and disappointing. I honestly don’t know who else to turn to. It really shouldn’t have to come to this.
