EdenRad goes live on AM 1350

By tuning in to AM frequency 1350, residents in Edenvale and the surround areas, will be able to catch up on all the local news, traffic and views.

Edenvale’s own radio station, EdenRad, has moved over to its own frequency.

What this means for listeners is they no longer have to download the App to listen to the station.

By tuning in to AM frequency 1350, residents in Edenvale and the surround areas, will be able to catch up on all the local news, traffic and views.

And to celebrate, the station is giving away a number of amazing prizes.

“Our ICASA licence permits us to broadcast from Pretoria to Heidelberg but we will be focussing on the area bordered by the R21, N12, R24, N1 and N2 highways,” said the EdenRad station manager Mr Roarke Lessing.

He added that residents who live in the Joburg East area, including Kensington, Bez Valley, Bruma and Observatory, will also be able to listen to EdenRad.

“We hope to become the preferred radio station for our residents, whether they are at home or at work,” said Mr Lessing.

He added that although listeners will now be able to catch the station on the radio, it will aim to keep its local approach to content.

“We will remain focussed on our community and what our listeners want to hear,” Mr Lessing said.

While the full line-up of shows and events is available on the station’s website at www.edenvaleradio.org, listeners can look forward to morning drive shows from 6am to 8.30am, a classic rock show from 9am to 12-noon and topical shows daily from 2pm to 3pm among others.

“One of our most popular shows is every Friday morning and it’s called Spiritually Speaking. We have had some really interesting people on the show from Cosmic Dancers to Reiki masters,” Mr Lessing said.

He also told the NEWS that a number of interesting locals are interviewed every week.

“Some of our best supported shows are those featuring local and upcoming bands. We have also featured a number of international stars,” he said.

“We believe we are the only radio station with a standard rate SMS line to traffic and news updates. This means residents can contact us even if they have free SMSs. We use the line to encourage our listeners to be part of the station, to get involved in what we are doing and to feel like they are part of the show,” Mr Lessing said.

“To a point, our listeners are our content managers and that makes us unique. We are community orientated in every way,” he said.

EdenRad also supports a number of local charities and DJ teams are often seen supporting local charity events.

As part of the station’s transition to radio, residents are asked to tune in to AM 1350 and log on to www.edenvaleradio.org where they will be asked a short, five-click survey.

Every 10th person who completes the survey will win a prize from the station.

The survey will be live on the station’s website from today.
