The Sebenza SAPS arrested a man for business burglary and for being in possession of stolen goods on November 9.

The Sebenza SAPS communications officer, Sergeant Sharon Mahamba-Tsotsotso, said the man worked for one of the shops along Queen Street, Modderfontein, before he was fired by his employer.

“The man worked for a business in Modderfontein and was fired because of a misunderstanding with the shop owner. On Friday, November 6, there was a break-in at the shop and cigarettes worth about R50 000 were allegedly stolen,” said Sgt Tsotsotso.

On Monday, while the police were patrolling, they received information about the suspect’s whereabouts.

“Upon receiving information that the suspect was in Chloorkop, the SAPS went to search for him,” said Sgt Tsotsotso.

The police arrested the suspect in Chloorkop and interrogated him.

He took the police officers to a house in Tembisa, where they found three bags of cigarettes.

The man was arrested and charged with business burglary and being in possession of stolen goods.
