CoJ implements level two water restrictions

Level two water restrictions are now in force within the CoJ.

The City of Johannesburg (CoJ) has implemented level two water restrictions.

Member of the Mayoral Committee of Environment an Infrastructure Services, Clr Matshidiso Mfikoe, said this follows the advice from Rand Water.

“Rand Water notified us of a further deterioration in the bulk supply system on Monday, recommending a higher level of water supply restrictions,” she said in a statement.

Level two restrictions mean:

No watering and irrigating of gardens between 6am and 6pm.

No filling of swimming pools.

No using hose pipes to wash cars and paved areas

The statement stated that more restrictions may be implemented.

“In the event that the situation deteriorates further, a level three restriction will have to be imposed. Level three would entail supply of water at stipulated times during the day, namely only in the mornings and in the evenings at times to be announced,” said Clr Mfekoe.
