Burglars opened fire on Edenvale SAPS officers in the early hours of this morning in Eastleigh.
According to information received, police officers patrolling along Main Street in Eastleigh disturbed several men while they attempted to break into a business.
“The men fled the scene in another vehicle when they spotted the police officers, but they left their truck behind,” said one of the officers at the scene.
Shortly afterwards, officers spotted a vehicle which matched the description of the second vehicle used by the suspects.
Three men exited the vehicle and one of them fired several shots at police officers.
Officers returned fire and a short chase ensued.
Police officers were able to stop the vehicle and arrest three occupants, while one suspect was able to escape.
Both vehicles used by the men were recovered.
