Loved EADS owner commemorated

In 1964, Mr and Mrs Roger and Pam Hazel immigrated to South Africa from the UK and discovered there was no local drama society in Edenvale.

Wife of Mr Roger Hazel, the co-founder of the Edenvale Acting and Drama Society (EADS), commemorated her husband and the establishment of Edenvale’s first dramatic society.

The NEWS previously reported on EADS’ golden anniversary and the organisation’s year-end production, ‘EADS 50 years on’.

The show will be a musical consisting of highlights from the shows produced and performed over the past 50 years.

In 1964, Mr and Mrs Roger and Pam Hazel immigrated to South Africa from the UK and discovered there was no local drama society in Edenvale.

As a result, they founded EADS, which operates from the St Chad’s Anglican Church in Edenvale.

“My husband and I loved singing and performing, and it was because of our passion that EADS became successful. He was also a prominent man in the community. He was involved in the church and he was a church warden,” said Mrs Hazel.

“We have achieved what we set out to do many years ago. We have also made many friends. I am proud of the organisation and what it has accomplished,” said Mrs Hazel.

The EADS 50 Years On production will be performed on October 23, 24, 30 and 31, as well as November 7 and 8.
