Vavi tweets about court appearance

Vavi informs Twitter followers about next court date.

Following unconfirmed reports about Zwelinzima Vavi being arrested for speeding on Sunday, the former General Secretary of Congress of South African Trade Unions, has since taken to Twitter confirming he appeared in court standing accused of driving 182km/per hour in a 120km zone. “The 207km is a creation of my media friends,” Vavi tweeted.

Vavi also informed his Twitter followers that his next court appearance is November 4.

The NEWS reported this morning that EMPD could not confirm or deny whether Vavi was one of six motorists arrested for speeding on the R24.

“We can only confirm six motorists were arrested between 5am and 11am on the R24 Albertina Sisulu freeway between Barbara and Edenvale bridges for speeding,” said EMPD media liaison officer, Inspector Kobeli Mokheseng.

Insp Mokheseng told the NEWS one of the six detained was a 52-year-old man, accompanied by a female passenger, travelling to the OR Tambo International Airport in an Audi Q7 SUV. He was caught driving at 182km/h shortly after 6am.
