Missing person arrested for drunk driving

Missing man arrested with his friend who headbutted a police officer.

Police investigations have revealed a man, reported as missing by his family, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol on June 17.

According to Captain Lesibane Molokomme, spokesperson for Norkem Park SAPS, the man and his friend were arrested.

The Kempton Park man’s friend was also charged with assaulting a police officer.

“He was arrested at around midnight on June 17 for drunk driving. His friend was also arrested for headbutting a police officer,” said Cpt Molokomme.

The NEWS received the above information after a 23-year-old man was reported as missing from June 14 to Edenvale SAPS.

The case was opened on June 17.

After the news of his disappearance spread far and wide, reports emerged that the man could have been kidnapped.

This was, however, contradicted by police investigations.

Although the details of the case cannot be made public, Edenvale SAPS acting spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts said investigations are continuing.

He said the man was arrested in Tembisa and detained at Norkem Park Police Station.
