Fischer paddles his way to a second place finish

Kensington resident, Franz Fischer, took second place in the Great Grand Master category during the qualifying race held at the Klip River Club on May 24.

Gauteng Canoe Union (GCU) public relations officer, Jennie Dallas, said more than 100 paddlers competed in the 22km event hosted at the Florida Lake Canoe Club.

It started from Meyerton and proceeded to Three Rivers in Klip River.

“The event gave the paddlers an experience on the river and to earn points towards A-grade status, allowing them to compete in their first A-grade river race, the Fish River Marathon in October,” she said.
