Pipe band marks two Jeppe milestones
125th celebration at Jeppe High School for Boys.
Jeppe High School for Boys celebrated its 125th anniversary and the 73rd birthday of the Jeppe Pipe Band on Saturday and Sunday, May 16 and 17.
The event was hosted as a Highland gathering; which included pipe band routines, marches and pipe dancing.
The regional gathering was one of eight in a season, but more specially because it was in celebration of the school’s success.
Brandon Holz is the Pipe Major for Jeppe, which is the oldest band in South Africa. The band was also invited to play in the Basel Tattoo in Switzerland next year.
Jeppe will be the first school band in South Africa afforded this honour.
Bands throughout the region attended the event.
