Two women, alleged to have defrauded two major companies, were arrested by the Bedfordview SAPS.

According to the Bedfordview SAPS spokesperson, Sergeant Mduduzi Nhlabathi, the women were caught after they walked into a bank in Bedfordview wanting to withdraw money.

“A bank teller asked if she could assist, to which the women said they were waiting for a specific teller who was on lunch at the time. When the teller checked the suspect’s account, she found that an amount of R1 731 319,14 was deposited into her account from a private hospital company, a logistics and an equipment company,” said Sgt Nhlabathi.

He added that the women were looking to withdraw R100 000 from the said account.

“They have since been charged with fraud,” said Sgt Nhlabathi.

At the time of going to press, it was unknown when they would appear in court.
