Domestic worker tied up by five men

The acting spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts, said the men were not armed and did not harm the domestic worker.

A domestic worker at a house in Highway Gardens was tied up while five men ransacked her employer’s home on Wednesday morning.

The acting spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts, said the men were not armed and did not harm the domestic worker.

He urged residents who make use of domestic workers to educate their employees.

“Make sure all gates are locked when there is no one outside,” said Lt Col Roberts.

He added that gates are not to be opened for anyone who is not authorised to be on the property.

“Make sure your domestic worker knows what to do in a situation where someone has entered the property,” said Lt Col Roberts.

He also encouraged residents to ensure that sector police vehicle numbers are easily accessible and domestic workers are given a panic button which is linked to a reliable security provider.
