Village Toastmasters compete

Dorothy Venter won the International Speech Contest, club level, with Elaine Bonney taking second place.

Village Toastmasters recently held its February meeting with the theme of Competition.

Various club members competed against each other for a place in the International Speech Contest, club level, and a place in the Evaluation contest.

The competition was stiff and each speaker surprised and entertained the audience with different speeches, ranging from a walking trip, to a coach trip, to Paris.

After much deliberation by the judges, the winners were declared.

Dorothy Venter won the International Speech Contest, club level, with Elaine Bonney taking second place.

In the Evaluation competitions, Laurence Newman was declared the winner, with Elaine Bonney taking second place.

Dorothy Venter and Laurence Newman move forward to the Area I4 competition to be held on May 6.

Village Toastmasters meets on the third Tuesday of every month at the Trinity Presbyterian Church, on the corner St David and Koster roads in Elma Park.
