EMM embarks on water saving awareness campaign

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) last week identified several areas which suffer major water losses and Edenvale cracked the list.

In September last year, Gauteng suffered its biggest water supply interruption and it only confirmed that water is a precious resource which needs to be conserved at all costs.

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) last week identified several areas which suffer major water losses and Edenvale cracked the list.

On Wednesday last week, the municipality embarked on a week-long, door-to-door education and awareness campaign.

The campaign ended yesterday, February 17.

Representatives from the EMM visited Edenvale on Monday.

“We thoroughly engaged with community members on how to preserve water. We also gave residents Do It Yourself (DIY) tips on repairing internal household leaks and supplied them with water conservation material and easy to read educational flyers,” said the EMM’s spokesperson, Mr Themba Gadebe.

In addition, the campaign also focused on the reduction of sewer blockages, which are mainly caused by foreign objects found in sewer lines.
