Bedford Centre issues statement

Cash-in-transit delivery process will be reviewed.

Following today’s shooting at Bedford Centre, the centre issued a statement that its cash-in-transit delivery process will be reviewed.

SBV cash-in-transit guards were attacked by armed robbers at 11.15am. A shoot-out ensued. “Two SBV guards, two shoppers and two robbers were injured,” the centre’s statement reads.

“Management is cooperating with law enforcement to ensure the arrest of all the perpetrators. We wish to assure our customers and tenants that we constantly review our security infrastructure to ensure the risk to all at Bedford is substantially reduced.

“Management is proud of Bedfords’ security record. Security has and will always be a priority, to this end, the process of cash-in-transit delivery will be urgently reviewed and assessed so that this function is moved away from the public spaces at Bedford,” the statement by Bedford Centre reads.
