Top results for HRS matric girls

The Holy Rosary High School matric class of 2014 achieved a 100 percent pass rate.

In addition, 97 percent of the HRS pupils passed with a Bachelor’s Degree entrance.

The girls also achieved 140 distinctions overall.

Among the top IEB achievers were Megan Patterson, who was place in the top one percent of IEB pupils for consumer studies and received six distinctions, Skye James, who was place in the top one percent of IEB pupils for mathematical literacy, and Ciara Giannoccaro, who was place in the top one percent of pupils for mathematical literacy.

2014 head girl Michela Agostinetto achieved top results academically when she received seven distinctions and was ranked in the top five percent of all IEB pupils in five subjects.

She also received over 80 percent for Life Orientation.

Michela also excelled in the sports, service and cultural spheres at the school.

She was also recently awarded the sportsmanship and loyalty trophy.

Michela will go on to study a Bcom in Accounting Science at Wits University.

Another top achiever was Simone Soares, who achieved eight distinctions, including AP maths.

Simone also shone in the cultural realm at the school and she was awarded the Pro Arte Award for Cultural Excellence for her involvement in public speaking, drama, choir and Marimba Band.

She plans to pursue a career in medicine.

Fellow matric pupil, Kirsten McCormack, achieved six distinctions and was also awarded the sportsmanship and loyalty trophy.

In addition, she also walked away from the school with the 2014 Sportswoman of The Year Award.

Kirsten will go on to study medicine at Tuks.

Other top achievers for 2014 were Christey Harris, who attained seven distinctions, and Kirsty Warnes, Olivia Visentin, Samantha Yen and Lauren Barger, who each attained six distinctions.
