No shortage of cars at Bedfordview SAPS

Spokesperson, Sergeant Mduduzi Nhlabathi, added that officers had not failed to conduct routine police operations due to vehicle shortages.

The Bedfordview SAPS has enough vehicles to conduct crime prevention operations.

This is according to the station commander, Lieutenant Colonel SR Shivuri, who was responding to a statement by the DA’s Member of Parliament, MP Michael Waters, that the station had over 12 cars booked into a mechanical workshop for an average of 47 days.

Lt Col Shivuri said according to his knowledge, only one car, a Chevrolet Utility, was in the workshop awaiting work to be completed.

Spokesperson, Sergeant Mduduzi Nhlabathi, added that officers had not failed to conduct routine police operations due to vehicle shortages.

“That should indicate all is well at the station,” he said.

Sgt Nhlabathi reminded residents that each sector has a vehicle designated to patrol the suburbs.

“If you live in Morning Hill, Senderwood, Bedford Park, Oriel Park and in the vicinity of both Bedford and Eastgate shopping centres, you fall under Sector 1. Sector 2 covers anyone living or working in the Bedfordview CBD. Klopper Park, Meadowdale Meadowbrooke and Elandsfontein all fall under Sector 3.” he said.
