Thembalami to benefit from ER2EC cycle race

The tour consists of 25 riders and five crew members, including mechanics and masseurs.

Bedfordview resident Mr Sean Wheeler will cycle from Carnival City to St Lucia in the annual ER2EC charity cycle tour.

The ER2EC was started in 2010 by cyclist Mr Julian Bryant and his wife Mrs Pascale Bryant, to raise sponsorships for charities.

The tour has successfully generated over R250 000 in the past three events and this year has set a target of R100 000.

The race will see 25 cyclists departing from Carnival City in Brakpan at 7am on Saturday, December 13.

The tour consists of 25 riders and five crew members, including mechanics and masseurs.

Mr Wheeler has taken part in the event from its inception and this year, he successfully motivated for the inclusion of Thembalami as one of the official beneficiaries.

In 2016, the year Mr Wheeler turns 50 years, he plans to cycle 4 400km from Canada to Mexico.

Other charities benefiting from the initiative include Care for Wild, a rhino orphanage, St Lukes in KwaZulu-Natal, a children’s home, and the Society for Animals in Distress.
