Saheti School in Senderwood, Bedfordview, was host to influential duo, Advocate George Bizos and Graça Machel, when the school hosted a fundraising gala dinner on Saturday in the George Bizos Hall to celebrate Adv Bizos’ 87th birthday.
The event was hosted as a fundraiser in support of the George Bizos Saheti Scholarship and Bursary Fund (GBSSBF) in its mission to enable deserving pupils to receive quality education at Saheti School, an English-medium, independent school established in 1974 by a group of founders under the leadership of Adv Bizos.
The event also boasted other influential guests such as the President of the South African Olympic Committee Sam Ramsamy.
The Master of Ceremonies was EWN’s Aki Anastasiou.
Father Stelio, the Parish Priest of St. Nektarios , Church of Orange Groove, put in a bid of R51 000 to purchase the portrait of Advocate George Bizos. The second round of auctioning for the photograph will be held in Cape Town.
